This one day, 8-hour seminar is for applicants who have sufficient shooting proficiency to pass the required 30-round firearm proficiency test but do not have previous training that meets the ISP requirement for a waiver of the first eight hours OR who want a more in-depth understanding of concealed carry tactics. This seminar meets the requirements for Utah and Arizona non-resident concealed carry permits and the Florida Concealed Carry Permit with a shooting proficiency demonstration which is recognized in over 30 states. This program is well suited to individuals who travel and want a wide U.S. concealed carry coverage.
The Home Protection & Concealed Carry (Utah & Florida) seminar is the most comprehensive we’ve seen on use of lethal force for civilian self-defense. It covers everything you need to know to protect you and your family with a concealed carry firearm or against a home invasion. Topics include:

A government issued photo identification card, hearing protection and safety glasses, a hat with a brim, and a black ink pen to complete the paperwork.

This course meets the requirements for Illinois Concealed Carry Instructor
Location: SAFER USA; 190 W. Lincoln Street; Waterman, IL
Prerequisites: NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course -OR- a solid background in pistol safety and shooting skills acquired through other training and/or extensive pistol shooting experience -AND- the NRA Basic Instructor Training course (BIT) -OR- current NRA Instructor rating in another discipline. If you are not now currently an NRA instructor you must sign up for Thursday’s Basic Instructor Training program.
Equipment Required: A three ring binder containing the NRA Trainer’s Guide obtained during the Basic Instructor Training, and hearing and eye protection, baseball cap and clothing suitable for the weather. SAFER USA provides the firearms, ammunition and lunch.
Course Description: This course will instill the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course. It also meets the requirements for Illinois Concealed Carry Instructor certification.
David Lombardo holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Illinois in technical training and specializes in training trainers. He is an Army Vietnam veteran, spent 20 years working part time in law enforcement, has been a professor and academic dean, and has been responsible for the training of over 5,000 students.

NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) (6-Hours – $50)
Prerequisites: Completion of the pre-course questionnaire AND the prerequisites for the related instructor course.
Equipment required: A three ring binder
Course Description: This course is a required prerequisite to all other NRA instructor courses. It is designed to teach the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basic Firearms Training courses. It is a basic educational psychology and teaching methods course that covers introducing a speaker, basic firearm training programs, using a training team, training materials and training aids, organizing a course and preparing to teach. There will be a one-hour lunch break during class.
NOTE: This course is taught immediately prior to each discipline instructor course (Pistol instructor, rifle instructor, etc). It is not a stand alone course and must be taken in conjunction with a given discipline instructor course. You must also sign up for the NRA Pistol Instructor course on September 22, 2013.
OAKLEY DAY, A shooting adventure for all genders, ages 10 and up , 21 July 2013
Please join the Aurora Sportsmen’s Club and SAFER USA for a shooting and socializing event celebrating American exhibition sharpshooter Annie Oakley’s contributions to the shooting sports. No experience is necessary, FOID card not required.
$30.00 per person includes: basic firearms safety briefings, shooting instruction, use of firearms, ammunition, eye and ear protection, light snacks and cold beverages. Participants will have the opportunity to shoot a modern pistol, rifle and shotgun.
The day will begin with a welcome session and safety briefing at 8:45 a.m. at the ASC rifle/pistol range on Rueff Road. Instruction and supervised shooting activities will follow. Juice, water and breakfast bars will be available. The morning will include rifle and pistol instruction and target shooting. There will be a group lunch/social event at your expense at Pub West in Waterman followed by shotgun instruction and trap shooting. The day will conclude with certificates of completion.
