David Lombardo

David Lombardo, president and founder of SAFER USA, brings a very diverse background to the training environment. He is an NRA Training Counselor and Instructor, Chief Range Safety Officer, Illinois Certified Firearms Instructor, Illinois Concealed Carry Instructor, NRA Law Enforcement Instructor, was one of the original NRA State of Illinois Youth Camp Coordinators, an NRA Distinguished Expert Marksman – Handgun, Utah Concealed Carry instructor, and specializes in the use of lethal force, personal protection in the home, and close quarter engagement tactics.

David is also a court qualified expert witness in the design, maintenance, operation and use of firearms and levels of force relating to the use of firearms for personal protection. He was an expert witness in Wilson v. Cook County and Friedman, M.D. & ISRA v. The City of Highland Park – both challenges to existing assault weapon bans – and has been retained on numerous civil and criminal cases. He founded and is principal of SAFER USA Consulting Group – an expert witness consulting group consisting of five diverse firearms industry experts covering issues ranging from training and tactics to lead mitigation and range safety issues.

As president of On Target Media Group, he wrote the free weekly industry newsletter On Target Newsletter for over five years and was executive producer and co-host with Gretchen Fritz, also a SAFER USA instructor,, of On Target Radio on Chicago’s #1 conservative talk radio station – AM560 THE ANSWER for over four years and 215 shows. On Target Radio is now a podcast program.

He is also co-anchor for SHOT Show TV, the official news program of the annual National Shooting Sports Foundation’s SHOT Show held in Las Vegas every January. A journalist for over 30 years, he is currently a regular contributor to the print publication, The Illinois Shooter, and previously a columnist for Town Hall Media’s BearingArms.com

David is also president of the 2,100 member, 268 acre Aurora Sportsmen’s Club, on the Fox Valley Friends of the NRA committee, an endowment life member of the NRA, Life member of the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) and active with the Will County Chapter of the ISRA.

David joined the Army and volunteered for service in Vietnam where he was assigned to the First Infantry Division’s medical corps. He was also briefly in the Navy and has a total of 20 years as an armed auxiliary deputy sheriff in two states.

David is also president of SAFER USA Outreach Fund, NFP, an IRS 501C3 not-for-profit company focusing on firearm training for women, minorities, young people and persons with disabilities. In that role he is also executive Director for SAFER USA Outreach Fund’s Annual Clyde Howell NRA Youth Shooting Sports Camp for kids 10 to 16 that began in 1998.

Gretchen Fritz

Gretchen is an NRA Pistol instructor, Illinois and Utah Concealed Carry Instructor and NRA Range Safety Officer. She teaches Illinois and Federal law for the Illinois Concealed Carry program and specializes in personal protection and women’s issues. She is also a graduate of the Illinois State Police Academy.

Gretchen is co-host of On Target Radio, a conservative talk radio show that aired for four years on Chicago’s #1 conservative talk radio station AM560 THE ANSWER and is now heard Sunday evenings from 8:00 to 9:00 PM on YouTube.com – On Target Radio.

In 2015, after having been elected twice to public office, first as precinct committeeman then as a Plainfield library trustee, Gretchen was elected to the Will County Board representing District 5.

She studied journalism at Millikin University and has a master of library science degree.

Ed Janka

Ed is an NRA Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun instructor and Range Safety Officer. He is vice president of the Aurora Sportsmen’s Club, has been a member of the Board of Directors for over 10 years  and chairman of the 600 Yard Range committee. He holds expert ratings in High Power and Mid-Range, and has competed in the NRA High Power National Matches at Camp Perry for the past 12 years.  Ed is a U.S. Army veteran.
